César Rodríguez

Mexico

César Rodríguez (b. 1983) is a photographer from Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico, whose work focuses on migration, human rights and climate change. He is based in Xalisco, Mexico.

His work has been published in Time Magazine, The Washington Post Magazine, National Geographic, Der Spiegel, The New York Times, El Pais Semanal, El Pais, Le Monde, Bloomberg, The Guardian, The Washington Post, among others.

Rodríguez has directed and filmed four personal short films, Huicholes del Tabaco, If Hell Existed, Guerrero, Amapola, and Matamoros, Dreams on Hold.
 
In 2022, he published his first photobook, Montaña Roja, which was selected among the top 10 photobooks recommended by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and was a finalist for the 2023 Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards. His second book, Hoja Dorada, was a finalist for the Author Book Award at Les Rencontres d’Arles in 2024 and for the 2024 Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards.
