Maya Okushko (1924-2007) started her career at the illustration department of the Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda. In 1945, the newspaper published her first photo. After working for Pravda for more than twenty years, Okushko joined the 'Book Review'. She also worked as a reporter for the Russian press agency RIA Novosti for two years.
