Susie Linfield is the author of The Cruel Radiance: Photography and Political Violence, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award for Criticism and has been translated into Italian and Turkish.
She writes about politics and culture for a wide array of publications, including The Nation, The Washington Post, New Republic, Boston Review, Dissent, and Aperture. Formerly, she was the deputy editor of The Village Voice, the editor-in-chief of American Film, and the arts editor of The Washington Post. She is currently an associate professor of journalism at New York University, where she directs the Cultural Reporting and Criticism Program.
