Previously, she shot, reported and edited video stories at The New York Times and The Washington Post for over a decade. In 2012, she was a fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard.
Garcia has been awarded top honors in the Edward R. Murrow, NPPA Best of Photojournalism and POYi contests, as well as four national Emmy nominations. She is obsessed with the Internet and with trying to justify her time spent at art school by experimenting with how visual stories can break out of a traditional mold.
