Joeckel studied Cultural Science graduating with a Master‘s degree. During her studies she worked as a picture editor for Die Zeit, and since 1996 for various magazines in the Geo group at Gruner + Jahr. In addition to her current position as a picture editor at Geo she has also developed magazines in both editorial and corporate sectors since 2001.
For the last six years she has given lectures to photography students and picture editors alike.
