This year's program highlights trust and transparency in photojournalism. In a time of rapidly advancing technology, what does it mean to trust a photograph? And what responsibilities do photographers, editors, and institutions have to maintain that trust? Confirmed speakers include
Tara Pixley and
Lewis Bush. The day will be moderated by
Giya Makondo-Wills.
The winners of the 2026 Contest, photographers coming from 25 countries across the globe, spanning from Egypt to Sweden, Brazil to Hong Kong, and Nepal to Mexico, will be there to speak about their work presented in the exhibition, and engage in open conversation with the audience. Photographers are available for interviews upon request.
As part of our interactive sessions, we present ‘In the Jury Room’, giving information about the World Press Photo jury deliberations, exploring why openness and accountability in the process are essential to the contest's integrity; ‘Visual Thinking Conversations’, diving deeper into the meanings contained inside photographs; as well as ‘The Photography Book Club’ with
Coco Olakunle.
There will also be a book signing where the winners of the 2026 World Press Photo Contest will sign copies of the Yearbook 2026.

The Stories That Matter is part of the
World Press Photo Days, taking place between 28 - 30 May, which includes activities to support, inspire and connect the photojournalism and documentary photography community.
