“I chose this project because the war in Sudan forced me to experience the same displacement and search for stability that I had spent years documenting in the lives of others. After moving between countries, I found refuge in Cairo, where falling in love and getting married transformed my understanding of home and belonging. Through this deeply personal work, I explore how love, intimacy, and the act of building a home can offer a new beginning amid loss and uncertainty. This project is also a visual legacy for future generations of my family.” – Faiz Abubakr Mohammed
