Water/Woman

“In coastal Bangladesh, rising water levels and salinity shape daily life. In my village, women spend 8–10 hours fishing in saltwater, facing serious health risks, including gynecological and fertility issues. My recent diagnosis of a uterine tumor has made this crisis deeply personal. As an artist, I feel responsible for highlighting the connection between climate injustice and women’s health, while portraying their resilience and fights for existence. Through Salt Print, I use an excessive amount of salt to erode images and blur details, symbolizing the lives of women in my village, slowly fading under these harsh realities.” – Farhana Satu
