Reindeer breeders on the Baydaratskaya tundra on the Yamal Peninsula in northern Siberia. Victor Zagumyonnov later recalled that he made this picture while on assignment with a group of journalists to document the use of aviation in the national economy. He mainly photographed oil and gas industry workers and took this picture at the end of trip. Apparently, he submitted the picture to the World Press Photo contest without official approval of Soviet authorities. Although it was said to be ignored by the Russian jury member, it did receive a prize.
