As he hurls a stone at Israeli soldiers, a Palestinian man is shot. Israel's decision in March to build a new Jewish quarter in East Jerusalem sparked off riots in Bethlehem and Hebron and caused a dramatic deterioration in relations between Israel and the Arab world. The Arab League called for a renewed boycott of the Jewish state.
