Long queues of Kuwait refugees stretch across the deserts as they wait for water and food, trapped in a 43-mile-wide swath of no-man's land between Jordan and Iraq.

Saddam Hussein's occupation of Kuwait sent thousands of refugees, including Egyptians and Bangladeshis, fleeing into the desert to escape the atrocities of Iraqi troops.
