Elana Meyer (nr. 1474, South Africa), who took the silver in the women's 10,000m, and Derartu Tulu (Ethiopia), who won the gold, ran a lap of honor together at the first Olympics since 1960 to which South Africa was admitted. The 25th Summer Olympics were held July 25 to August 9.
